Components and Forms
The OBSTACLE COURSE and MISSION COURSE will be contested in person on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Teams will compete only during their scheduled times. The in-person portion is scheduled to take place at the UC Riverside campus in Riverside, CA.
An awards ceremony will be held shortly after the conclusion of the pool events, also on the UCR campus, in the College of Engineering in the Chung Hall Courtyard. All participating teams are welcome to return to campus if necessary and attend the program.
Regarding the competition class, we are contesting the "stock class" competition. For a comprehensive overview (all components, mission course set-up, etc.) of the general challenge CLICK HERE We will adhere with most of the competition guidelines stated therein, with any exceptions being communicated to participating teams directly.
For the TECHNICAL DESIGN REPORT, teams will submit a report that details the planning and engineering design process for the particular Seaperch Device. For instructions on creating the report, CLICK HERE
Report must converted to a PDF file for submittal. To submit the file, teams will need to provide a Google or Dropbox link to the file (scroll to the bottom of the page to submit). Please try not to email reports directly to us. The report will be due almost a week BEFORE the in-person portion.
Finally, each team will submit a TEAM video. Its a chance to introduce us to your team and team’s personality. Teams must provide a valid link to their video, preferably on YouTube or Vimeo. The video link is also due almost a week BEFORE the in-person portion. To view the rubric for the video, CLICK HERE.
What is being contested...
Our competition will consist of four components: the obstacle course, mission course, a technical design report, and the team video. The rank sum score of these four components will determine the winners of the event. Please note that at the international competition, the video is not assigned points. We will be scoring the video submissions.

Levels and Expectations
There will be two divisions: Middle School (K-8 grades) and High School. Teams should be composed of 2 or more students of the same level (all MS, all HS students). Each school/group can enroll as many as 3 teams, although we would consider more teams if needed (please contact us).
We will award prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams, with the top team for each division advancing to the International Competition. A live awards ceremony will be held soon after the conclusion of the pool events at 4 PM where winners will be announced.
